A mistake and a surprise

I was trying to capture the Mahnmal St. Nikolai in Hamburg and for whatever reason had the settings completley wrong with the result that the first image was very high key and basically overexposed. However, taking it even further in photoshop I was able to create an image that I actually like a lot. It has a very painterly feel to it - As if it is painted in water colours. So my mistake became a surprisingly interesting image (for me anyway).

My second surprise was a picture of a muddy river bed (the tide had gone out). I liked the strctures and patterns in the mud and after applying a couple of filters in Photoshop the result is again very painterly. Who would have known that mud could create β€œart”?
