Woodlands
I recently took part in the Royal Photography Society Talk-Walk-Talk program on the subject of woodlands. The guest speaker was Paul Mitchell who showed a series of wonderful woodland images which were definiely an inspiration for the subsequent walk. I chose to focus on a path running from my home up to the village about 400m higher up. This follows the line of a gorge with the trees hanging onto the steep slopes and growing very tall. Initially very green, the trees soon started to turn to give some gorgeous autumnal colour. This is not my usual subject but I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, capturing the majesty of the trees as well as the small detail of the fungi. It was also a lesson in being in the moment and taking the image now. There’s no coming back a day later because the season changes so quickly.
